Surf Nicaragua and escape from the crowds in one of the last frontiers of surfing.

Have you ever fantasized about surfing Hawaii 50 years ago or San Juan del Sur 20 years ago? Riding a world-class wave with just a few friends, no one paddling around you and no long boards bouncing off your head; just great surf and a calm environment. It still exists in parts of northern Nicaragua. Nicaragua Escape specializes in finding the best surfing adventure for its guests. If you are looking for a surf hostal with excellent  food and a wide variety of services, the surf lodge in Aserradores is the place to go. If you want to stay in a private beach house, we offer a choice of a one bedroom or a two bedroom beach house with great uncrowded surf 30 seconds from their doors. They are in the rural fishing village of Jiquilillo. Both Asseradores and Jiquilillo are located less than one hour northwest of the city of Chinandega.

The lodge offers accomodations from $15 per night per person. They also have tour packages which include lodging, 3 meals each day, and transportation to the best surfing or fishing locations for the day.  The individual rate is $65 per day, and group rates are as low as $45 each per day.

The beach houses offer great surfing in front of the houses, fully equipped kitchens, your choice of one or two bedrooms, and easy access to the village of Jiquilillo and the Padre Ramos Reserve. The two bedroom house is $80 per night and sleeps 6. That’s less than $14 per night per person. The one bedroom is ideal for a couple and rents for $75 per night. There are discounts for longer stays.

Cofounder and surfer, Bodhi Portugal, had spent years surfing and wind surfing in Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the Caribbean, Indonesia, Hawaii and Spain when he found himself surfing Playa Maderas in San Juan Del Sur, not enjoying the crowded waves. He heard a rumor of a small fishing village to the north – that was 7 years ago and much has happened since then. Bodhi moved there because of the world class waves and the beauty of the area.
